Mga bass icons as influences: Started with Louie Talan kang Razorback concert sa Plaza Quezon, NC. Then started copying a lot of players, miski dai ko biristado. I didn't care then. From Rivermaya's to RATM's. Basta makahigop. After a long hiatus due to college and then work, I got back to playing. Grabe influence ni John Myung sako (Tnx Errol). But I never stopped. I reached for other players. Kadakol talaga naka impluwensya sako, but major ones are Rodney Vidanes (Fuseboxx), Roger Alcantara (Eternal Now), Oneil Carantes (Kitchen Sync), Jerick Patoc (Bass Monster), JM Ursua (Dahon), Sean Malone (Gordian Knot), Dave Meros (Spocks Beard), Pete Trewavas (Marillion), Jonas Reingold (Karmakanic). And I wont stop researching.

Other players I consider as influences, kadakol. Si Errol ang pinaka idol ko. Grabe impluwensya niya sako sa music and now music theory. Dahon band made me play and perform with attitude. Tapos may The Flower Kings pa telling me that there is no time limit sa music, Elektric Band, Chick Corea and other side projects of its members reminding me that there are no rules in making songs. The Beatles telling me to take everything easy, but Blotted Science and Cynic suggesting heavier sound once in a while.

Other things that influence me? Movies! Books! Stories! Gabos na nasa palibot ko! I am an observer, and I tend to mush around for old and new things, kadakol istorya. These frogs are trying to tell me something. Tano daw ta magatol na naman likod ko? Hahaha! I always try to make my style garo storytelling man ngaya. Moodshifts, situation movements, explorations, expressions not framed by usual musical guidelines. Iyo man kaya goal mi sa Cinderblock. Kaya ang kaluluwasan kang songs mi as a whole, mas harani sa progressive.

Rock music man giraray ako. Even if I listen to almost everything, I might stay in rock and roll forever.

Sir Togs, great list! Gabos na genre na iyan kung i-summa total mo. Nagkadarangog ko na man sinda. Rocco is the man! Les Claypool is crazy! Si Stuart nakakapabalangibog! Living legends in their own ways sa bass guitar.

Bro, na meet ko na sinda. Mga humble mga ini to be our own bass Gods. Very much willing to share some tips on everything they know, from bass techniques, to music business.

My major influences in Bass Playing:
1. Bunny Brunnel(Chick Corea) - Of course, he was my instructor, i learned tons of techniques in his Bass Tutorials in Carvin, Hollywood where I got my first bass guitar here in U.S., the "BB 75."
2. Abraham Laboriel(Ron Kennoly) - 4 fingers pop-up and left hand slap.
3. Marcus Miller, Flea(RHCP), Rob Trujillo(Suicidal Tendencies/Infectious Groove), Les Claypool(Primus), Mally Paraguya(TTT, POT)- all for funkyfying the clave!!!
4. Steve Harris(Iron Maiden), Billy Sheehan - Melodic Metal/Rock and use of 3-4 right fingers plucking.
5. Geddy Lee(Rush)- Progressive Rock
6. Mon Legaspi(Wolfgang) - combining slap to metal riff(main influence in my compositions).
7. Carlos Balcels(The Dawn) - the importance of bass player in rhythm...the essence of groove.
8. Don Alanis(Stand, Coldfront) - My greatest challenge in my amateur years as a bass player. I still look up to him.
