Its War Games as usual: Spastic Filipinos and Americans soldiers conducting war exercise in Philippine soil.Legazpi City –Militant organizations in Bicol region frowns over the humanitarian missions being conducted by US military troops in Bicol region. The mission is a prelude to the military exercise, and their technical working personnel are in mopping up operations in the entire region, Karapatan Bicol said Wednesday.
We will launch more region wide campaign against the “RP-US” military exercise to increase awareness among Bicolanos and ask for vigilance on the objectives of the forthcoming joint military exercise, Vince Casilihan, spokesperson of Karapatan-Bicol told The Examiner.
“We don’t appreciate the overtures of the advance technical working group deployed in Cabusao, Camarines Sur in implementing infrastructures project like bridges, this is the sole obligation of the Philippine government to bring in the project, not foreign government, Casilihan, said. The forthcoming Balikatan 2009 is set on the first quarter of this year in Bicol region Casilihan added.
Some sensitive issues such as alleged human rights violations purportedly committed in Mindanao, particularly in the provinces of Zamboanga, Basilan and Sulu by the visiting forces that was never addressed by the government, are being raised by militant organizations.
“We don’t want this things to happen again here in Bicol region”, Casilihan warned.
The technical working group from the US troops arrived in Cabusao Camarines Sur last October of 2008 and Mayor Renova allowed the visiting troops to construct a simple infra-project. That is why Karapatan-Bicol is calling the attention of the local politicians to be cautious on the US troops present in there areas.
Karapatan-Bicol downplays insurgency problems in Bicol region as minimal compared to other regions in the Philippines.This could lead for a possible US troops intervention in the internal affairs of the Philippine government to engage in direct military warfare against the local terrorists in the Bicol region.This is a violations of our constitution.
Casilihan was qouted by saying, "Aside from the war exercise and their humanitarian mission in Bicol region,they might be into mineral mapping of mineral deposits found in the region."
